Health book of the month

Health book of the month

What do we need for a healthy life? Sometimes it is surprisingly simple to have a healthy lifestyle, and only a few small changes can have a huge impact in the long run. In his book "Eat Move Sleep" Tom Rath, a # 1 NY Times bestselling author (www.tomrath.org), talks about the simple changes  that we can make in our everyday life that will lead to a healthier lifestyle.

I think that we all know that in order to be healthy, we need to eat well, be active, and get enough sleep - there is nothing new here! But what I like about this book is not only the focus on these three areas, but also it shows the interdependence between these  areas.  Tom Rath gives tips and ideas on how you can make little changes that will lead to great results when it comes to living a healthier lifestyle.....changes that you can start implementing right away.

This 30-chapters book is an easy reading, with a lot of ideas and suggestions. Each chapter ends with a three action list that you can implement right away into your day to day life. The books ends with a 30 day challenge - which incorporates the implementation of the three daily actions listed after each chapter.

One of the statements that I particularly like is that "sugar is the new tobacco". I completely agree with this statement! Meanwhile sugar is added to so many foods, and there are so many different names used for sugar on the nutrition label that if we don't educate ourselves we will be completely unaware of our sugar intake. According to Women's Health magazine there are 56 different names used for sugar on the nutrition labels - why are the food companies going through such a great trouble to "cover up" sugar in their products?!

This is food for thought for another blog.......until then share what book(s) around health and healthy lifestyle you can recommend.

Stay healthy
