Recipe of the month

Recipe of the month

Following my blog on nutrition book of the month last week, I want to share the recipe of "The Beauty Detox Foods" book that changed my energy and well being levels. Every morning instead of having a breakfast, I am drinking The Glowing Green Smoothie® by Kimberly Snyder. For the exact recipe and instructions on how to prepare your GGS please visit

I have been drinking The Glowing Green Smoothie® for over 3 years now, and I have never imagined that something like this could be so tasty, as well as give me so much energy and makes me feel so good! This has become such a part of my daily routine, that when I travel and don't have the possibility to drink the GGS, I literally miss it. The best part is that it has also became a part of my kids morning breakfast routine (depending on their mood of course!). Because I am drinking it every morning, I always try to alternate the vegetables according to season. Currently I am using the following, which gives 2 litters. If you are just starting with drinking a smoothie in the morning, I would suggest that you start with max 500ml water.

• 800 ml very cold water
• small bunch of kale
• large bunch baby spinach
• 1 pak choi
• 1/2 cucumber, peeled
• 1-2 celery stalks, halved
• 1 apple, cored, seeded, quartered or 1 persimmon
• 1 pear, cored, seeded, quartered
• 1 banana, peeled
• 1 fresh lemon, peeled, seeded

In addition, I use a high performance blender, which makes the smoothie extra creamy.

Are you starting your day with some kind of a smoothie? Share what is your favourite type, and how it affects your wellbeing.

Stay healthy,

      Hallo Alli,

Pak choi, also called bok choy is a type of Chinese cabbage.
We use Vitamix blender. It is expensive, but in my opinion totally worth it. We realized that there was a huge difference (improvement) to the smoothies we were making – the texture is much smoother / creamier. In addition, you can do soups, make almond (or any other nut) cream yourself, and many other things. We also make almond milk using the blender.

      I hope this is helpful.
